Establishment of an Efficiency Office for Sri Khemananda Dhamma School

Khemanna Dhamma School (Ratmalana Blind School) is a specialized institution providing Dhamma education to students with special needs. Currently, approximately 325 students are enrolled in Dhamma education, supported by 22 dedicated teachers.The school operates under the esteemed guidance and supervision of the Chief Priest and Principal, Ven. Gonkamuwe Methangara Hemipanan Wahanseke.The construction of the school office commenced on 22nd June 2025. For this purpose, filing cabinets decommissioned from the Divisional Secretariat office were repurposed for storage use.

Project for Issuing Birth Certificates to Children Without Official Documentation
As Grama Niladhari Officers and Development Officers reported that many children were without birth certificates, the Divisional Secretary instructed the Children and Women’s Unit to prepare a project to address this matter.
Under this project, the Children and Women’s Unit has decided to conduct three mobile services.
The first mobile service was conducted on 22.07.2025, based on the Wedikanda Grama Niladhari Division. During this service, 37 children were identified, and the process of issuing birth certificates for them has been initiated.
Arrangements have been made to conduct the second mobile service in the Mount Lavinia Division and the third mobile service in the East Ratmalana Division.
